Abu Dhabi GP 2021: Final Race of 2021: Manakeesh and Mayhem

Manakeesh three ways

What an unbelievable end to the season.

What was set to be a great showdown between two absolute rockstars, ended in shambles when a controversial call was made by the race director in the final laps of the race. As far as I can tell it was for TV and as an actual F1 fan it was all so disappointing. Max won his first Championship which should have just been an exciting moment for him and the sport, but was mired in controversy, protests, and fan upheaval. F1 is supposed to be THE premier racing series in the world. Get it together F1.

If you want to read what the F1 drivers and community think, there are a ton of videos and posts, and even the Wikipedia article does a pretty good job discussing the race reactions. I still think it was Bull$h*t, and I hope things get fixed for next year so we can watch some racing and not yell at our TV.

The only words we had were inappropriate for most audiences.

After settling my emotions and frustration, I came to the conclusion that although I completely disagree with how the final race was handled, it should not be held against Max, and he still did a phenomenal job this season. He won the most races, got the most podiums, and held his own against Lewis. Congratulations to the first ever Dutch World Champion.

Oh yeah, and for the race we made some lovely Manakeesh. We played with a few different toppings including shredded halloumi, Za’atar spice blend with olive oil, and warmed labneh with kalamata olives.
